Welcome to Mera Mitra! India’s community platform of, by and for the people with disabilities. It is a place where you can discuss common topics on disability in India, help each other out, share ideas, and establishing ever-lasting bonds.

The community is open to all persons with disabilities, parents and family members of disabled persons, service-providers, caregivers, researchers, teachers, policy makers, solution providers and well-wishers.

What topics are permitted to discuss on Mera Mitra? All topics that help people with Disability to live with independence, confidence, and dignity, including independent living, parenting a disabled child, caring for a disabled person, accessibility, assistive products and services, disability rights etc. That is pretty much everything under the sun.

However, there are a few best-practices where we would want our community to follow, including:

  1. Be nice to each other! We are all here to learn and help each other out. Community members may have different levels or experience - so please be kind and respect others.
  2. Use the site search functionality to know if your question is already answered.
  3. Try to stay on-topic. If what you are adding differs from the original post/thread - feel free to open a new post and talk about it there!
  4. Give a meaningful title when starting a new thread.
  5. Comments should be helpful and informative, not negative, and hurtful of anyone’s questions or ideas
  6. Do not drag a point or issue beyond a point. We do not run opinion poll.
  7. Abuse will not be tolerated. This includes personal attacks, hate speech, negative comments or slurs against any person, disability, religion, race, sexual orientation or gender, or threats to a user’s safety.
  8. Any discussion related to piracy, including software Cracks, are not permitted..
  9. Sharing personal or sensitive information about other users will not be tolerated.
  10. Spamming of threads or posts will not be tolerated.
  11. To keep forum discussions on topic and share the best advice, we reserve the right to remove posts, or that violates the Mera Mitra terms of service, privacy policy and the community guidelines.
  12. Important: Mera Mitra does not take any responsibility for any post. It is merely providing the platform. The person making the post is entirely responsible for it. A post once made cannot be technically withdrawn or masked. Any cost towards it will be entirely borne by the person making the post. Therefore, be mindful of your post.
