Social Audit refers to the evaluation of the implementation of government’s schemes or programmes in order to understand, measure and verify the impact of these schemes or programmes. The aim is to compare official records with ground realities. The objective of the audit is to improve the effectiveness/implementation of the scheme. Take for instance, the MNREGA Scheme should be audited to study its impact on people with disabilities i.e. how have they benefitted, the gaps in implementation including financial and human resource needs, etc.
